Update Your Hate

•December 17, 2009 • 1 Comment

UpdateYourHate.com is a brilliant new website that gives you a way to rant, rave, and bitch yourself out of the crabby mood you’re in and laugh yourself into a better one. Though the site is barely 3 weeks old, it’s proving to be a crowd pleaser to a diverse audience; from fed-up college students to pissed off housewives, fans are signing up quickly to vent their peeves and have a good laugh at what others are moaning about. Updateyourhate.com already has over 400 fans following them on Facebook, and are soon to exceed 800 “Hates/Posts” on their website.

Updateyourhate can also be followed on Twitter, Dugg on Digg, and followed on Plurk. Below I will list an easy way to get directly to these pages.

One great thing that I love about the site is that you do not have to sign up to post, but if you do sign up you can see all of your posts, become a top “Hater”, and get email notifications when someone comments on your “Hate”. The site is easy to navigate, anyone using a computer can figure out the user friendly interface.

I also like the idea that, if you use other sites like Twitter, Facebook, Digg, e.t.c, you can send your posts, or the posts of others straight to those sites with a click of a button. One last thing that I personally love, is that there is no approval process — all “Hates” are live and instantly posted once you hit enter; a feature that is missing from similar sites that require a screening process before entries are posted. The people at Updateyourhate.com do monitor the site, as some vulgar and unnecessary posts do make it up sometimes, the Updateyourhate team are quick to remove them.

A quick review of the site:

You can post your “Hate”, vote on other people’s “Hates”, comment on other people’s “Hates”, respond to comments that others have left for your “Hate”, and share your “Hates” with others on various social networking sites.

This site is a must visit and a definite bookmark!

Rock n Roll Could Save The World

•December 17, 2009 • Leave a Comment

No, I am not talking about Bill and Ted bringing peace and tranquility to the world by playing their air guitars, however I am talking about perhaps one of the greatest bands to come out of the same era. “U2″.

The question has been raised among groups of people all around the world, over and over again. Who is the greatest band of all time? As far as I am concerned, you have the Beatles, The stones, and U2 and not necessarily in this order.

Though the Beatles are easily considered the most influential group, it is hard to say the greatest of all time because no one knows just what they could have been had the break up not occurred just 6 years after they landed in the United states. From 1964 to 1970 the Beatles had 21 #1 hits in America, and 11 Grammy awards! The really impressive thing about the Grammy’s to me is that the Beatles one way or another have won 18 more since the break up.

As for the Rolling Stones. Obviously influential, timeless music. To this day are still rocking and selling out arenas all over the world! Mick Jagger is still thin, still moving like Gumby and singing just the same as he did when he was a teen, he definitely does not seem to have slowed down 40+ years later. Keith Richards somehow seems to still be alive and kicking after all the years of smoking and partying. I would say he is definitely one of the great wonders of the world. With his extracurricular activities aside, he is by far one of the greatest rhythm guitarists of all time, not to mention, how many people know the name of the rhythm guitarist in bands before the leads?

June 1st, 1964, the Rolling stones arrive in America for their first North American appearances. So 1964 to current day, over 40 years of playing and writing rock and roll music successfully, the Rolling stones are very hard to dismiss as being the greatest rock band of all time. Though the numbers are not as convincing as the Beatles as far as awards go, the resume is still pretty impressive. 7 #1 hits in the U.S, and 3 Grammy awards which include a lifetime achievement award that came in 1989.

1976 Feedback was born. Paul(Bono), Dave(The Edge), Adam, Dik and Larry were the members of the band. 1 Year later the band decided a name change was in order. They were then known as “Hype”. Dick would then make the worst choice of his life. He left the band. With Dick gone the band decided to change it’s name one last time. U2 would be the name that would eventually change their lives forever.

In 1980 the band cut a deal with Island records, and never looked back. It was not until the their 3rd album “War” in 1983 that they would be recognized as one of the dominant bands of the 1980′s. The album sold 7 million copies world wide and by 1985 was certified triple platinum. 3 months after the release of War, U2 hit the top 40′ for the first time with “New Years Day.” This was just the beginning for the 4 guys from Dublin.

U2 is still going strong 30+ years later, releasing great albums year after year after year. Can they be compared to the Beatles and The Rolling Stones? When starting out as a young band, the Beatles and the Stones were their inspiration. Before becoming U2 the guys were a Beatles/Stones cover band.

Lets talk about U2 by the numbers now. 22 Grammy’s to boot, 8 #1 hits, 6 #2 hits, 6 #1 albums. By the numbers….the greatest Band of all time, hands down. Yes U2 was a Beatles and Stones cover band, and yes, The Beatles and the Stones changed and transcended Rock and Role, and Yes I love them all, but U2 has always produced songs that are timeless. Weather you are 40, 31, 20, or 14, U2 appeals to us all.

Rock ‘n’ Roll could save the world, and U2 is doing it one song at a time.

One of my favorite things to do in life is to cuddle up on a couch, (alone, or with a nice female) with a cozy blanket, some popcorn or cookies, and watch a really great movie. There are movies for everyone, for every occasion, every mood, every time of day…you get the point. You could watch a comedy, drama, action, horror, or even a good skin flick if that’s what you like.

I own over 1200 movies and when people find this out they immediately ask “what’s your favorite movie and what do you recommend?” This is perhaps one of the hardest questions to answer. I love so many movies, and i could recommend a movie a minute if you would like…but i wont. Instead i am going to give you a list with 1 movie that i loved from each year starting at the year that i was born. Note, there are way to many great movies in different genres (ie. Action, comedy, drama) per year, so picking just 1 will not be easy, and is not necessarily the best movie for that year, but i promise that there is something for everyone!

1976Rocky – out of shape Italian nobody boxer gets the chance of a life time to fight the champ!

1977Star Wars – young boy begins his training to become a Jedi night and bring peace to the galaxy.

1978Superman - We all know the story, alien comes to earth to protect us and bring justice. Man of Steel

1979 - Rocky II – The Rematch!

1980The Empire Strikes Back – The saga continues as Luke discovers the most shocking revelation of all!

1981Stripes - Bill Murray joins the military. “That’s the fact, Jack!”

1982E.T The Extra Terrestrial – Elliot befriends an adorable alien that just wants to phone home.

1983 - Return of The Jedi – Luke finally becomes a full-fledged Jedi, but the dark side is stronger than ever.

1984The Karate Kid – Wimpy Daniel gets his ass kicked so many times that Mr Miyagi decides to teach him karate by doing his household chores!

1985Back to the Future – Marty Mcfly goes back to the year 1955 to save his crazy friend that was killed in 1985….

1986Ferris Buellers Day Off – This movies made 100 million less than “Crocodile Dundee” the same year!!

1987 – ***The Secret of My Success*** – From mail boy to Business man in 1 day! Must see!

1988Die Hard – The funny action hero! Yippee Ki Yay mother fucker!

1989Batman – Michael Keaton’s Dark Knight takes on Jack Nicholson’s Joker

1990Goodfellas – Henry Hill and his friends work their way up through the mob hierarchy

1991Terminator 2 Judgment Day – A shape-shifting cyborg is sent back from the future to kill John Connor before he can grow up to lead the resistance; a protector is sent, too.

1992A Few Good Men – You want the truth? You can’t handle the truth!

1993 -Mrs. Doubtfire – Robin Williams can make you laugh, he can make you cry, and he can even make you dinner!

1994The Shawshank Redemption – Easy to say that this is one of the best movies that i have ever seen!

1995Outbreak – A deadly virus is carried by a monkey host from the African rain forest to a small town in Northern California, where it quickly begins infecting the entire population.

1996Jerry Maquire – Show me The money!

1997Good Will Hunting – An incredible movie about a bad ass kid from south Boston who is Einstein smart!

1998The Wedding Singer – Adam Sandler sings the 80′s! Do you really want to hurt me?

1999American Pie – Dirty, perverted high school seniors just want to get laid! Hilarious!

2000Gladiator – Love or hate Russle Crow, this movie is brilliant!

2001The Fast and The Furious – Cars, Girls, and Guns! Awesome

2002Spider Man – Go Web! He gets bit by a radioactive spider, and super strong!

2003American Wedding – The guys from American Pie are back and theres a Bachelor Party!!!

200450 First Dates – Hi I’m Tom! This movies is great!

2005Wedding Crashers – Did you give her the motor boat? You motor boating son of a bitch!

2006Night at the Museum – Ben Stiller at his best!!!

2007 - So many amazing movies….(Superbad, American Gangster, Into the Wild, Once, I am Legend, Dan In Real Life, knocked up, chuck and Larry) But I have to go with Juno – a high school girl that gets pregnant and gives her baby up to a couple that cannot have kids. Great story!

2008 – This was another tough one, but I was able to narrow it down to Ironman, Slumdog and Batman… The Dark Knight - Heath Ledger..enough said.

2009 – Still up for debate, another amazing year for film, but I must say that I am not sure that anything can top The Hangover!
So many of these years had a ton of great movies! You never realize how many great movies there actually were until you look! lol Thanks for reading, subscribe and leave comments!

It is Never to late to….

•December 17, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Picture this: You wake to the sun shining into your window, the aroma of chocolate croissants fill the air with a sweetness that lingers through your room. You get dressed; you walk outside and take a deep breath, so deep that you can almost taste the pastry that has filled your nasal passage. You begin to walk down the road, noticing many smiling faces as people stroll by. You follow the smell, but you cannot tell exactly where it is coming from. Your walk has ended 5 minutes later and you find yourself starring at a big statue of Neptune. You are at the Trevi Fountain in Rome! You are surrounded by smiling tourists, happy Italians, and a handful of Gelaterias! No Scott, you are not dreaming.

I had never been out of the country until February of 2006. I was 29 and a half years old and scared to Fly! Thank god i sucked it up because it was one of the best experiences of my life. Going to Europe is becoming the norm for vacations these days, although many older people such as my parents are still not going unfortunately. However they do love to see photographs of my travels. I suppose they are living vicariously through me, personally mom and dad, I think you are silly!

No seriously though, what is holding retired people back from traveling the world? Money? A Dog? Phobias? All fine and dandy, but I have a solution that will allow these people to see how the other half live! Save money for a year, (don’t by the unessesary refrigerator). Put the dog in a kennel( i’m sure the dog could use a vacation from it’s parents!) Finally, get over the fear of flying. If it is your time to go, then it’s your time to go.

It is never to late to go! Do the touristy stuff, live like they do! Take a nap, have sex, have a snack, simply do as they do for siesta in the middle of the day…anything they would like!

I have been to Italy, Spain, Africa and Gibraltar, all in 2006. I am excited to visit Germany, Amsterdam, and Prague in 2008. I have got the itch to travel and I am going to scratch it as often as I can! I suggest you do as well!

Stuck in an elevator with who?

•December 17, 2009 • Leave a Comment

If you work in a building with more than one floor, then i know that this has crossed your mind at least once. The one way that can make getting stuck in an elevator for extended period of time not shitty would be to get stuck in the elevator with someone special to you.

OK so this is kind of like the “if i had 3 wishes, what would i wish for” game, however, one does not wish to be in an elevator stuck…or do we?

So on to the question…

If i was stuck in an elevator with someone, who would i want it to be?

This question is not an easy one to answer, so here are my top 7 starting from 7 to 1.

7. Rick Rubin – The guy is a musical genius! OK so he’s just a music producer, and most of you do not even know that. Let me fill you in on what makes Rick Rubin number 7. From 1985 – today he has produced albums by groups, acts, and bands such as: LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Run Dmc, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mick Jagger, Tom Petty, Slayer, Johnny Cash, Green Day, U2, Jay-Z, Metallica and Weezer just to name a few! He knows music and has over 5 grammys to prove it! he has met amazing people, I’m sure has amazing stories, and he has made most of these musicians what they are today!
6. Adam Sandler – This guy would probably make me piss my pants in person, not to mention he’s loyal to all of his friends and puts them in his movies….maybe he’ll be my friend and put me in a movie….
5. Michael J. Fox – My favorite Actor of all time. Not only did he make movies that made me laugh, and smile, he also is making it possible for others to be able to laugh and smile again someday. He went from an A list actor, to an A list hero. Having time to talk with him in an elevator could without a doubt change a persons life.
4. Jenna Jameson – The Worlds Most Famous Porn Star! In an elevator, Alone, i would try everything under the sun to score, or maybe set something up for the Mrs and I! Stunning and slutty!
3. Bono – He is the only person in history to have been nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe, Grammy, and Nobel Peace Prize….need i explain more?
2. Scarlett Johansson – OK, lets just say, The Sexiest woman alive(next to mine)! She has a hot voice, a better body, and an even better face. oh and lets not forget, shes only 21! Sold!
1. The Beatles – To get stuck in an elevator with the Best band of all time, the biggest selling musical act of all time would probably render me vocally challenged and catatonic. John, Paul, George and Ringo are music. From song writing to activists, to the legendary breakup that ruined music. There are just so many questions that i have for them. 1 would be: Why the hell did a woman like Yoko Ono break up the band…Shes not even HOT!!!!
So work has left me enough time to day dream and think about this…you should do the same. When your on the train tonight, in your car, on the crapper, think about this question, and ask yourself, would you want to be stuck in an elevator with me?

The Wonder Years

•December 17, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Riding the train to work everyday can become quite boring if you don’t have entertainment. I recently loaded some episodes of “The Wonder Years” on to my iPhone. I find myself getting lost in the 20 minute shows to the point where I almost do not make it off the train at my stop. It really makes me think about my wonder years.

Have you ever thought back to a different time? An easier time? When life was about Acorn fights, igloos and snow angels? Stick races in the gutter after a strong rain? Man hunt, kick ball, big wheels, jumping home aid ramps, whiffle ball and so much more? When people ask, “if you could go back in time, or to anywhere at all, I do not have to think very long about it.

Picture this, You go to a candy store(Jelly Bean) to buy some candy and a comic. You walk in, grab what you would like, and put it on the counter. The cashier says “3.50 please” and you take out 2.85…You realize that you don’t have enough money. So you choose what not to get, and put the item back. Hmm, put it back? Not now we don’t! We take out our little wallets and say “do you take debit?” Can you imagine a time when if you didn’t have cash, you didn’t buy anything? Gosh those times were way easier. No debt, no worries, no nerves (other then going to 3rd grade with Screamin’ Reaman as your teacher). Life was just so simple.

As I drive past the old neighborhood, I see how the times have changed. There is one kid outside texting while smoking a cigarette in front of his house. Not one child is outside playing any sort of games, or even just socializing. Maybe they are all in the house studying? Hmm, not too sure about that, but I could almost guarantee they are IMing on the computer and playing video games. Maybe both at the same time. What happened to the days of coming home from school, eating a snack, finishing homework, and then going out side to play some sort of game? There was always someone outside, or someone home!

It is nice to know, however, that some things never change…going to school every day, hoping to see that one girl you had a crush on for ever, and hanging out with your best pal at lunch. Your Winnie Cooper and Paul Pfeiffer. Socializing, being late for class, thinking about how you would approach a girl, stressing over a first kiss, oh and let’s not forget the number one way of communication…passing notes! Was there really anything else to think about in school? Perhaps this is why so many of us just coasted by for so many years…I’m amazed that I graduated!

“Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you’re in diapers, the next day you’re gone. But the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul. I remember a place…a town…a house like a lot of houses…a yard like a lot of other yards…on a street like a lot of other streets. And the thing is…after all these years…I still look back…with wonder.” Daniel Stern, The Wonder Years

Getting a Tattoo…Picking an artist…Picking a Tattoo.

•January 14, 2009 • Leave a Comment
Okay, First the question that everyone that does not have a tattoo asks…..

Do tattoos hurt? Hells yeah! If you cannot handle a little pain then this art is not for you. It’s not quite like getting kicked in the testicles outside on a windy, below freezing day, but it is a close 2nd.

Does placement  make a difference? I was told that the forearm is a real sensitive place to get one….I did it despite the negative information…it hurt…a lot..

After my first tattoo I told many people that I would never do it again! I said “why would anyone want to do this again and again and again?”  Sure enough two years later I went to get a new tattoo on my upper right side of my back…

Did it hurt? More than the forearm!!! I had no warning this time, I went in blind, not expecting as much pain…boy was I wrong.

Now for the 2nd time I told myself that I would absolutely never ever do this again!! Sure enough, 2 years later I found myself in a tattoo chair again getting my left forearm close to my wrist inked…

Did it hurt? The most out of the 3!! I guess because of the bone, the wrist being so small, the thin skin, Tendons and Veins..I am never ever doing this again!!! (we know how that goes)

I love my tattoos,  and in the end will probably get more before my time is up on this planet. Many people say that they are addicting, that if you get 1 you will want more…I am living proof that this is true.

So come up with an idea, draw it, search it, copy it, what ever you would like, and start researching artists in the area!(internet is a wonderful thing!) Make sure you love it because it will be with you for the rest of your life!

BTW – If your artists tattoo gun looks like the one above…walk out!!!
